Los Lunas is a village in Valencia County, New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the village population is 24,877 inside the village limits due to the new housing developments at El Cerro de Los Lunas (Huning Ranch) It is the county seat of Valencia County.
The village offers a variety of events to go to. Among them are annual events such as: the St. Patrick's Day Balloon Rally; 4 July Parade, celebration and fireworks display at Daniel Fernandez Park; and the Holiday Electric Light Parade down Main Street (NM Highway 6).
Fireworks are synonymous with our celebration of Independence Day. Yet, the thrill of fireworks can also bring pain. 200 people on average go to the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries in the month around the July 4th holiday.
Miller Architects are moving forward with building a Community Hospital in Los Lunas. Construction to begin in the Summer of 2014, with an anticipated opening in the winter of 2015.
